In cooperation with MoHo, we're going all over Germany and reporting back about what we find. Enjoy!
From "Weißwurst" (veal sausage) to Lederhosen, from the gentle low mountain range, to the Alps. Listen up Bikers: Bavaria is calling! Bavaria is known as "the Free State" and the best way to travel here is by motorcycle. The Alps are visible, so nothing stands in the way of adventurous riders discovering spirited kaleidoscopes of curves!
The Alps aren't always the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of Germany, but here you can find a small but mighty number of them. This, along with veal sausages, dumplings, & lederhosen, is another reason why you should definitely add Bavaria to your bucket list! A ride over the German Alpine Road, for example, is always worth the trip. Heading south, you'll quickly reach neighboring Austria, where more alpine touring areas open up. Here you'll find legendary passes and easy-going mountain roads. On the other hand, to the east, the Bavarian Forest awaits with winding roads, scenic beauty, and cross-border tours pointed toward the Czech Republic.
This is also the right place to be if you like your tours to have cultural and culinary charm. Various stops for sightseeing and sampling genuine Bavarian specialties - such as the famous Weißwürste (veal sausages), Leberkäse (liver meatloaf) or Schweinsbraten (roast pork) with dumplings - are easy to add to any trip. Sightseeing spots such as Garmisch-Partenkirchen or the famous Neuschwanstein Castle - among the most famous sights in Germany - are also close by.
In Bavaria's Allgäu Alps region, you'll find a surprising number of areas with winding corners. Anyone who says you can't ride a motorcycle in Bavaria obviously hasn't been here before. If you don't mind crossing over into Austria for a few kilometers on a short detour, you'll be rewarded with the over 1,100-meter high and wonderfully winding mountain pass Oberjoch. It's a longer trip if you want to tackle the German Alpine Road: 450 kilometers, peppered with wonderful curves, lead through the Bavarian Alps from Lake Constance to Berchtesgadener Land. If that's still not enough, you can swing through the Allgäu on your way to Switzerland and even more dream passes.
In Central Europe's largest forest landscape, empty, winding roads and beautiful nature won't leave your heart cold. The Bavarian Forest sit on an approximately 100 km long, low mountain range between the German and Czech Republic borders. Here, a magnificent touring radius awaits.
Cross-border routes, which can take you as far as the Czech Republic or Austria, are the order of the day here. But there are other highlights as well. How about a trip along the Glass Road, one of the most beautiful vacation routes in Germany? Or a tour to the Czech Moldau Reservoir? Another top destination is "Pullman City," a fantastic American West theme park in the Bavarian Forest. Good news for all of you who are already thinking of visiting in winter: The annual "Elefantentreffen" in the Bavarian Forest is one of Europe's largest biker meetings in winter. Feeling chilly? Impossible! But it is possible to wear the wrong clothing.
A motorcycle vacation in the Rosenheim region is definitely worth a trip! Rides will take you from the Inn Valley and the Chiemgau Alps, through Upper Bavaria and all the way to Tyrol, where the impressive Kaiser Mountains await. Rosenheim is located directly on Lake Chiemsee - conveniently situated at the intersection of Munich-Salzburg-Innsbruck. To the northeast stretches the Chiemgau, to the southeast the Chiemgau Alps, and to the southwest the Mangfall Mountains.
A classic motorcycle vacation in Upper Bavaria is to take the Chiemsee-Chiemgau circuit, which sends you on an unforgettable trip to Tyrol: Wilder Kaiser, Wendelstein and a café in the old town of Kufstein. A tour along the panoramic roads to Achensee, Tegernsee, and the impressive Tatzelwurm waterfalls is also highly recommended.
