It might be all gray skies, wet roads, and grime in many parts of the world, but that doesn’t mean your riding season has to be on pause. In January and February, motorcycle travel simply shifts toward the sun. And that brings real benefits: quiet roads, mild temperatures, and low off-season prices. If you are planning a winter escape, these are the best destinations to ride.
Andalusia is the ultimate winter hotspot. Daytime temps often reach 5–20 °C (60-70°F), the asphalt is top quality, and the inland routes are packed with dream roads. The Pueblos Blancos loop near Ronda and Grazalema offers twisties and epic views with hardly any traffic. Base yourself on the coast, head inland for curves, and your perfect winter ride is ready to go.

The Algarve is quieter than Spain, which makes it a perfect winter destination. You get mild air, peaceful roads, scenic coastal routes, and gently winding backcountry. Want more twisties? Just head toward the Monchique mountains for nearly traffic-free riding bliss.
On Tenerife, Gran Canaria and the rest, it’s pretty much riding season all year round. You can get from palm-lined coast to volcanic mountains in no time. Perfect, pothole-free asphalt included. Gran Canaria is a real cornering festival, while Tenerife feels like a complete landscape shift on two wheels thanks to the Teide volcano.
Morocco delivers warmth, culture, and a true sense of open space. The Rif mountains offer twisty mountain roads, while the Atlas region features wide, scenic routes. Temperature swings are part of the ride: mild in the valleys & crisp up high, making the riding experience that much more intense.
Sicily is surprisingly mild in winter, and pleasantly empty. Coastal roads mixed with mountain detours keep things interesting, and Mount Etna makes for a truly unique stop depending on snow conditions. Just keep in mind that some roads in Sicily can be a bit rough around the edges.

For us bikers, winter doesn’t mean taking a break, just switching locations. Once you’ve ridden empty, sunny mountain roads in January, you’ll just wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
