Welcome to our new rubric: the tour of the month. The tour of July will help you discover amazing landscapes in the region of Sauerland. Our biker host Walter Saure has chosen the most beautiful sights for you. The tour has something to offer for everyone. 💪
The tour in northern Sauerland starts in Willingen and leads towards Nuttlar, passing by the former hillclimbing route and reaching the Aabacher dam. The dam, almost 3 km long and a 1.5 km wide, was put into operation in 1982 and is used as drinking water supply and flood protection. Other highlights of this tour are Fürstenberg Castle, the wildlife park and the monastery in Hardehausen as well as Canstein Castle.
Additionally, the "Hohe Stein" is an absolute must see! The limestone massif, which was formed at the time of the Devon Sea, is around 380 million years old. It is the oldest rock in the area and lies at a right angle to the main direction of Lörmecke river. The valley "Einsturztal" in the area of the "Hohe Stein" is particularly impressive. A roughly 30 meter high, steep rock face was cleared here and a mighty pile of rubble made of loose limestone was deposited.
The tour continues to Marsberg along the main church until Fürstenberg Castle. Fürstenberg Castle goes back to the medieval Vorstenburg and is now part of the Bad Wünnenberg municipality. The current building was built in the 18th century.

The last section of the tour leads us from the monastery to Canstein Castle, known for its jousting tournaments, via Adorf and the Christiane iron ore mine over to the Diemelsee and its dam. The Fährhaus Diemelsee is a biker meet-up perfect to stop for a rest before driving the last few kilometres to reach the starting point in Willingen.

Here you are spoiled for choice which Milwaukee bike to use to discover the beautiful Sauerland region.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Björn Thiele from WorldofBikers.de, as well as Walter Saure for the great tour and we are excited to see where the tour of the next month will lead us. Until then, we wish you a great season and a good trip.
